ClassPass and ClubReady join Community Gyms Coalition

WASHINGTON, D.C. — February 8, 2021 — The Community Gyms Coalition (CGC), a group representing more than 15,000 local fitness studios and small gyms in the U.S., announced today that ClassPass and ClubReady have joined the campaign urging Congress to provide targeted relief to struggling fitness studios and small gyms.

“Fitness studios and gyms create jobs in our local communities and help us to become healthier, more resilient versions of ourselves. It is incumbent on all of us to rally together and save these businesses,” says Fritz Lanman, ClassPass CEO. “If our leaders in Congress truly want to save jobs while keeping people healthy, they will pass legislation to provide immediate aid.”

Recent data shows that current federal relief programs have failed to help fitness studios and small gyms, with nearly two thirds saying existing programs have not proved useful. Past data also found that without targeted relief from Congress, one third of gym owners do not believe they will survive 2021.

“The decisions regarding fitness facilities have a ripple effect across a number of industries and people” said Darol Lain, President of ClubReady. “This has a tremendous impact on the physical, mental, and financial fitness of so many. We stand alongside our customers and fitness industry partners and are proud to partner with the Community Gyms Coalition.”

Other members of the Community Gyms Coalition include: CrossFit, Jazzercise, Mindbody, Orangetheory Fitness, Retro Fitness, Self Esteem Brands, [solidcore], Xponential Fitness, and Zumba Fitness.
